Update on our fundraising efforts for Alex

As of this morning, we have been able to raise $11,563 towards our initial $75,000 goal for our first 2021 candidate, Alexandros Kallergis.

Additionally, Alex’s parents have been able, through fundraising efforts of their own in Greece, to secure approximately $25,000 towards ancillary medical and transportation/housing costs.

According to the price list from the St. Louis Children’s hospital, which can be found here :

Cost of SDR Surgery: $39,745

Braces/Equipment: $6,500

Cost of PERCS (orthopedic surgery): $8,191 - $12,951

Cost of Physical Therapy (as needed): $115 per hour

Cost of Transportation and Housing for 6-8 weeks (estimate): $8,000

Ancillary costs (food, local transportation, etc) $5,000

Total: $67,436 - $75,000

Therefore, given the above, we have adjusted our goal to $50,000, which will be paid directly to St. Louis Children’s Hospital towards the cost of SDR surgery as well as the orthopedic surgery (if needed). This means that we have $38,437 left to raise!

Any money from this goal that is not needed for Alex will be rolled over to our next candidate.
